How do VPNs work? Follow one page request from phone to site

A VPN is a sealed route to a server, and that server is the one that makes the requests to the wider internet in your place.

No card, no account. The key is cut and delivered in Telegram in about a minute.

The moment you tap connect

Who can see what

  • ▸Your provider: that you talk to one server, and how much data passes.
  • ▸The site: the server's address, not yours.
  • ▸The VPN operator: the site names, if it chooses to log them.
  • ▸A network owner at a cafe or hotel: the link to the server, and nothing inside.
  • ▸The site again, if you log in: everything you tell it yourself.

Keys, servers and settings

People ask how to VPN settings work, and the answer is that there are very few. A client needs the server address, a port, an identifier and a few details for the wrapping, and the key packs them into one line. Nothing is typed by hand. This is also why the same key can be used on a phone and a laptop: each client reads the same settings and builds its own link.

What it cannot do alone

A VPN does not clear cookies, make a login anonymous, stop malware or make a risky site safe. What changes is whose word you take on faith: with a VPN the operator sees your traffic where your internet provider used to, so the trade only pays off when the operator earns more of your trust. This service keeps no logs and has no account behind the key, and it is also a small service that claims no more than that.

Seeing it for yourself

The quickest way to follow all this is to watch it happen. Ask @royalkey_club_bot for the free trial, connect, and search what is my IP before and after. The address and the provider's name will change, which is the tunnel at work. If you open a second tab on a different site, the same new address shows there too, since the whole device now uses the one link.

The ledger

We keep no ledger of you, only of the key

Royal Key holds three things: a Telegram chat, the key sent to it and the date that key expires. No account sits behind them, so there is nothing for a log to attach to, and we never ask for a name, an email address or a phone number. It is a modest claim, and we prefer it to pretending that no jurisdiction could ever reach us.

Nothing on file
  • No account, email address or phone number
  • No record of the sites you visit
  • No connection times or IP addresses kept
  • No card details: you pay inside Telegram
  • No renewal and no charge you did not choose

At the counter

Asked at the counter

What is a VPN and how does it work in one line?

It sends your traffic through a protected link to a server that then reaches the internet for you.

Do I have to change any settings by hand?

Normally not. Import the key into the client and press connect.

Does it work without a Wi-Fi password?

It needs an internet connection of some kind, since the tunnel runs across it.

Does the VPN see my passwords?

For sites on HTTPS, it sees that you visit them, not what you type into them.

Why do some networks block it?

Some protocols look like VPNs on the wire and are filtered for that reason. Ours is made to look like ordinary web traffic.

What separates a VPN from a proxy?

Typically a proxy serves a single app, whereas a VPN client can carry the traffic of the entire device.

Question not on the list?

The bot that cuts keys also answers questions. The setup section names the client to install.
