Why you need a client
The VPN page in Windows Settings understands IKEv2, SSTP and L2TP, which are protocols from the age of office dial in. It cannot do anything with a vless:// key. So any of the VPNs for windows that cope with filtered networks arrive with their own program. With Royal Key the program is open source and free, either Hiddify or v2rayN, and the service is a key from our bot. Most windows VPN software free offers give you a free installer and a metered service. Here the software is free permanently, and the key is free for five days.
Setup
Two modes
System proxy mode asks programs to send their traffic through the client. Browsers and most desktop apps comply, and no administrator rights are needed. That is the behaviour people have in mind when they search free browser VPNs, and here it comes without an extension reading your pages. TUN mode does not ask. It creates a virtual network adapter and takes everything, games and command line tools included. It needs administrator approval once. For daily use, TUN is the one to choose.

Set the client to start with Windows and to reconnect on its own, and you will forget that it is there. v2rayN keeps everything in its own folder, so moving to a new PC means copying that folder across. Nothing of ours is ever installed. To remove it, delete the client and check that the Windows proxy switch is off. The same key already covers four more devices.
