Settings worth a look
- ▸Per-app proxy: decide which apps use the tunnel. It is handy for a banking app that dislikes VPN addresses.
- ▸Always-on VPN and Block connections without VPN, both found in Android's own VPN settings.
- ▸Battery: set v2rayNG to unrestricted, or some phones will close it overnight.
- ▸Bypass LAN, in the routing settings, keeps casting and printers working.
- ▸Everything else can be left at its default.
Getting it without Google Play
On the GitHub releases page, most modern phones need the arm64-v8a file, and the universal file works on anything. Allow your browser to install it, and withdraw that permission afterwards. Never take an APK from a mirror site or from a Telegram channel. This app will carry everything your phone sends, so a tampered copy would be a disaster. The same key also works in Hiddify, if you would rather have a single big button. After a manual install, check the releases page every couple of months, because a sideloaded app does not update itself.
